Tixotrol is used as thickener and anti sedimentation agent for water base paints in vinyl, styrene acrylic, plaster systems and similar products.

The addition in different type of paints can be made at the beginning of the process, at the end of the process, or as the last component if viscosity adjustment is needed.

If Tixotrol is used at the beginning of production phase, we recommend direct addition to water, taking care concentration does not overpass 2%. Must be enough stirring, speed and time, to make the polymer completely dissolved. At the end phase, we recommend dissolve the product in water before addition other components to formulation. As the last additive to adjust the viscosity value, we recommend pre wet the product with glycols at 1:1 proportion; in the case enough stirring must be given for at least 20 minutes with the necessary pH adjustment in the band from 8.5 to 9.0.
